An expert conference on the implementation of EU Directive 2016/943 on the protection of undisclosed knowledge and experience and business information (trade secrets) from illegal acquisition, use and disclosure was held in Ankara on September 12 and 13, 2024.
The conference was organized by the European Commission with the aim of providing expert assistance to the Republic of Turkey in the preparation and adoption of national regulations for the protection of business secrets.
The conference brought together more than 100 participants from the ranks of the professional public, the academic community and representatives of the state government of the Republic of Turkey.
This conference was also attended by the lecturer of VSS, associate professor Ph.D. Ana Rački Marinković with two presentations.
She presented the trends in court cases due to violations of trade secrets in Europe, and the experience of the Republic of Croatia in the implementation of EU Directive 2016/943 through the Law on the Protection of Unpublished Information with Market Value.
In these lectures, she was joined by a professor of the Faculty of Law of the University of Istanbul, a professor of the Faculty of Law of the 29 May University in Istanbul, a judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Turkey, and representatives of the Judicial Academy, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey who participated as panelists at this conference, as well as an expert of the Ministry of Justice of Germany, which demonstrated the German experience in the implementation of this Directive.
