VSS professor, Ph.D. Ana Rački Marinković, published a scientific paper in the scientific Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (JIPLP) (Q2, IF 0.6), the leading journal for intellectual property law published by Oxford University Press. The paper entitled “Liability for AI-related IP infringements in the European Union” (DOI: 10.1093/jiplp/jpae061) was published in the October issue of the journal JIPLP.
The research deals with the current topic of potential negative consequences of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Violations of intellectual property rights that may occur in connection with the use of artificial intelligence systems are being investigated. Violations of intellectual property rights may occur during the development and training of AI systems, as well as during the use or operation of AI systems, which raises the question of liability for such violations of intellectual property rights.
The research represents an important scientific contribution in analyzing the area of potential violations of intellectual property rights that may occur in connection with the use of artificial intelligence systems in relation to the newly proposed Directive on the adaptation of the rules on non-contractual civil liability with regard to artificial intelligence (Directive on Liability for Artificial Intelligence). and other relevant European Union laws to determine which rules would be applicable to liability for damages in such cases. The survey also looks at the recently passed Law on Artificial Intelligence.
